Whether you’re planning a girl’s trip away or a romantic getaway, one thing’s for sure, you’ll want to look best. Thankfully Vegas is the perfect destination to experiment with some of the season’s newest trends. If you want to look like an A lister or a high roller, read on to discover the seven staple pieces that you shouldn’t leave home without.
Leggings are a vacation essential as you can dress them up with a jewel toned dress and stilettos or pair them with an over sized t-shirt and boots for an effortlessly chic look. As you know, everything is bigger and better in Vegas so leave your plain black leggings at home and opt for a bold printed pair or take a leaf out of your favorite celebrities’ style books and try a pair of glamorous faux leather leggings.
Ankle Length Boots
If you visit Vegas, you’ll end up doing your fair share of walking, so it’s wise to pack a pair of stylish yet comfortable shoes. Don’t be surprised if you end up walking several miles within a single Casino. Black ankle length boots are a great choice as they’re comfortable to dance in all night and are edgy enough to wear to a concert. If you don’t mind standing out, perhaps opt for a pair with rose gold studs, for a look that’s right on trend.
Sparkly Sequin Dresses
Nothing screams Vegas more than a sparkly dress. If you’re looking to turn heads opt for a dress covered in gold sequins. Just make sure not to overdo it on accessories as a gold dress is a show stopper on its own. If you’re dining at a five star restaurant or are looking for something a little more sophisticated, opt for a dress with black sequins instead.
If you’re not a fan of sparkly dresses you may want to try one of fashion’s hottest trends, cut out dresses. Cutout dresses come in all styles e.g bandage and skater and have strategic cuts to showcase a bit of skin. As an example, some cut out dresses expose your mid section or your back. Celebrities who have rocked cut out dresses on the red carpet include Jennifer Lawrence, Kim Kardashian, Rhianna and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Leave your hand held bags at home and opt for a practical mini cross body bag. Mini cross body bags are the perfect choice to take to a concert. Not only do they hold your essentials, like your wallet, keys and make up but they also offer extra security as you can stand up and dance without having to worry about leaving your bag on your seat unattended. If you want a cross body that transitions well from day time to night time make sure to choose a bag that has a chain strap as they’re a little more glamorous than leather straps.
Believe it or not blazers can work as casual wear as well as office attire. For a night at the casino try pairing a bright colored blazer or a sequined blazer with a little black dress and heels. Or alternatively, try wearing crisp tailored white pants and a white blazer like Taylor Swift, Charlize Theron and Milas Kunis.
If you’re not the kind of girl who wants to wear a dress to a concert or club, you can always opt for a pair of black skinny jeans paired with an edgy leather jacket and black studded ankle length boots. The options are endless, you can even pair one with a lace dress or shirt for an edgy yet feminine look.
Cat Eye Sunglasses
If you plan to spend a few hours relaxing on a sun lounger by the pool, you can easily add a bit of vintage chic to your outfit by donning a pair of retro cat eye sunglasses. Celebrities who have been spotted wearing stylish cat eye sunglasses include Olivia Palermo, Nicole Richie, Katy Perry and Beyonce.
So what are you waiting for? Grab your suitcase and your plane ticket and set off on the vacation of a lifetime. With these seven items packed safely in your bag you’ll be ready to give Vegas’ celebrities a run for their money. Just remember, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
Lots of weddings coming up and you’re thinking, ‘WTF do I wear to this one’. If you’re in your 20s and 30s, you’ve probably been in a few weddings or you’ve been a guest a lot lately. Weddings are really fun and you have a chance to reconnect with old friends and perhaps meet new ones. Most of us want to look our best for the occasion and why not? It’s fun to get a little dressed up. Here are a few things to consider when you’re deciding what dress to wear to a wedding.
Take a close look at the invitation and see if the bride and groom have given specific instructions about the dress code. If they say the event is strictly formal, you better ditch the pantsuit combo and go with an uber-chic long gown instead. Weddings that demand formal attire for the guests give you the chance to channel your inner Hollywood star, so you might as well grab the chance to dress like you are about to go on the red carpet. However if the wedding invite says it is to be a casual event, opt for a cute short dress, an elegant maxi, or a mid-length sheath. If the wedding is semi-formal a glam cocktail dress ought to do the trick. If the wedding invitation does not say anything about a required attire, take your cue from the invitation design as it is usually indicative of the wedding dress code or ask someone else that’s going what they are wearing. Well and make sure it’s someone whose fashion advice you trust. Don’t be led astray by the style-challenged.
The wedding venue should also be considered in helping you decide what to wear; if the wedding is at the beach, you can pick a chic sun dress and show a bit more skin. Just make sure you exfoliate and moisturize, no one wants to be labeled ‘ashy’. Yes, I said that. If they happen to be holding it in a church, that should be taken as a signal for you to make an appearance in something a tad bit more conservative. Some churches don’t allow strapless or sleeveless dresses. Did you know that? Be sure to wear layers. If the weather is on the hot side, you just take off your shawl or cardigan during the reception. Having a shawl or cardigan on hand can be very useful in case the weather suddenly turns chilly.
Though there are rules on what you have to and can wear to weddings, this doesn’t mean you have to stifle your personal style and be uncomfortable during the event. You can easily choose threads that fit the occasion and yet fit your personal sense of style and clothing that you are comfortable with. If you have worked out those gams and want to show them off, rock that short dress. Do you have with killer curves? A wrap-dress will show off your lush figure and hide any lumps and bulges. Have you been blessed with a classic hour-glass figure? A dress cinched at the midsection ought to show of your enviably tiny waist to perfection.
However, if you some body parts you wish to hide, there is a vast array of clothing add-ons you can add to your outfit to make it work. For instance, if you think your arms need some camouflage, a nice cardigan or gauzy shawl will do the trick and if your legs have some flaws you need to hide, tights are not only practical (they can save you from accidentally flashing your underpants)but they are also very stylish and can add a whole new dimension to your wedding frock. Once you have taken your figure and style into consideration, next thing you need to think about is the comfort-level offered by the outfit you are considering for the wedding day.
Should you be looking forward to mingling with the other guests or busting out some moves on the dance floor, you don a dress that you can breathe in and move in at the same time. A tight dress may look haute on you, but ask any woman who has made the mistake of wearing such dresses to weddings and they tell you it was no fun at all. Besides, if you happen to be single, weddings are the perfect places to meet your new ‘boo thang’ and confidence is everything, Miss Honey. You will find it difficult to be sexy when all you can think about is how to breathe in your dress and how the fabric is biting into your skin. You have better chances of attracting suitors if you can move and breathe easily and let your natural sexy swag radiate effortlessly.
Next on your list of considerations are the wedding theme and the wedding colors. You should try to go with their color scheme as much as you can especially if it suits you but if it doesn’t, who cares? You tried. Unless the bride and groom ask you to wear white, avoid the it as much as you can because it will be quite rude of you to wear that color to somebody else’s wedding. Please don’t be rude. Some couples may follow wedding traditions that do not welcome colors like red and black to weddings so make sure you check that beforehand. You certainly do not want to commit any fashion faux-pas and have people giving you the side-eye all night. It is a given you want to stand out but only for the right reasons.
When it comes to dress designs these days, the sky is the limit and you shouldn’t be afraid to try them all until you find one that fits your style, your body, and the occasion. You can opt for dresses with fancy necklines as they minimize the need for accessories, or you may even go with Peplum dresses or open-back dresses that flatter the figure without constricting the air-way. You can pull of looking sexy and yet stay demure with illusion mesh details in all the right places. Fabrics can also be considered as you look for dresses so check out experimental textiles and prints, chiffons, laces and silks. Shop for your dress several weeks ahead of the wedding so you can take your sweet time trying on dresses and finding one that suits you, and the occasion, best.
You may be an honored guest but, you are not the star of the show. The bride is the main character and it is never good form to upstage the bride on her big day, but do toe the line. When deciding on dresses to wear to a wedding, you can be flirty, comfortable and give your life while letting Mrs. Bride have her moment. Just have fun with it. Also, keep your wardrobe in mind, if you’re making an investment in a new dress, you probably want to make sure it is something you can rework and wear again.

Want to freshen up your wardrobe, but don’t feel like buying any actual clothing pieces? On trend necklaces can quickly aid in updating your look. If you feel like you already have core pieces in your wardrobe that fit you perfectly and you’ve not really found anything new in clothing that makes you do a double take, chic necklaces are the perfect way to satisfy a shopping pang. Of course this also applies if you’re just looking for something to add a little pow to what’s already in your wardrobe. Here are a few ideas/inspiration on what to look for in chic necklaces this season.
Bungee cords are nor longer just for satiating your adventurous side, many designers are using them for high-end statement necklace. Used raw, coated with enamel and paired with metal details, bungee cord-based necklaces like the one featured here will look great with strapless tops or scoop neck tops.
The ombre trend isn’t just for hair, we’re seeing the trend in jewelry now and it is haute. It can ad a little edge to a classic piece to freshen up your look. Depending on the colors and type of necklace you chose, this trend can be worked in infinite ways. The one featured here would look great with a turtleneck, crew neck and looped under the collar of a button down blouse or shirt.
Bold color is in and mixing lots of color to create a pattern is all the rage with jewelry designers. Go for whatever catches your eye and have fun blending it with your current wardrobe. There’s no need to be matchy matchy. Just because your necklace has red, yellow, blue and green, doesn’t mean that you need to wear red, yellow, blue and green.
Love gemstones, but think they look outdated. Look for designer pieces that feature artsy or edgy designs. The one featured here is rose quartz. I love natural gemstones because they have metaphysical healing powers. Rose quartz, in particular, is said to attract love and open the heart to love… so if you’re looking for more love in your life, this would be a good look. Well, it couldn’t hurt.
Rosary and mala inspired necklaces make for great statement pieces and they are also quite practical if you pray, do meditation or repeat affirmations. A long wait in line is now an opportunity to slip off your fab necklace and use it to keep count while reciting, chanting, or repeating your mantra. If you are not into any of that, it’s still a dope necklace.
You can’t miss with a vintage piece to make a statement with your style. This one is by Chanel and would look great with an all-black ensemble. Don’t go Mr. T on anybody, but a great vintage gold chain from the 80s or 90s can be nostalgic and on trend.
Multi-strand necklaces have been a trend for quite sometime, but now we are starting to see bolder accents and this is what makes this fresh and very now. You might spend a pretty penny on a necklace like the one featured here, but just wait until you see the wonders of what what it can do for a $5 plain white tee.
Last but not least, collars are in —especially the Peter Pan-inspired shapes. Necklaces like the one featured here are fun and can really add some flair to a boring crew neck top. These collar necklaces also look amazing with collarless blouses, dresses and sweaters.

My city has schizophrenic weather. One day its 80 degrees, the next day it’s 50 degrees. It makes no sense. Sometimes I’ll leave the house with a coat and by the end of the day; I’m walking to my car in a sleeveless shirt. I’ll have the heater on in the morning and have the air conditioner on full blast in the afternoon and once I’m home again getting ready for bed, I’ll have to put on the central heat. It’s kind of crazy. We are just hitting cooler whether and I can really consider putting away my open-toe sandals and play with the idea of boots and other cool-weather shoe gear. Are you re-stocking or revamping your autumn wardrobe too? I’ve got a few tips for you.
What Shoes to Wear Now Fall 2012 Tips
Observe the trends, but you don’t have to follow them if it’s not practical for your lifestyle. My lifestyle dictates that I walk around a lot on sometimes uneven slippery services and this plays a huge role in how I choose my shoes. I also have to meet a lot of new people and make a professional, polished and chic first impression. Some other women might be able to park right in front of their office and sit at a desk all day. They can wear whatever they want. Others might have a job where they wear uniform boots all day and only really get to show off their great style on the weekends. Just think about trends in terms of what works for your wallet and your life.
It’s all about the ankles. Anything that draws attention to ankles is in right now. So whether it’s an ankle boot, sandal with an ankle strap, ballet flats with ankle straps, booties with ankle wraps or pumps with ankle wraps — you’ll be on trend and ahead of the game if you have these pieces in your shoedrobe.
Shoes with both black and white details are striking, trendy and actually quite practical this fall. We are seeing a lot of black/white prints in clothes so it’s only natural that the trend would also appear in pumps, boots and sandals this fall. What makes it even more fun is that they will go with absolutely anything and will make great pairings with this season’s hautest colors like oxblood, imperial blue and goldenrod.
d’Orsays are back in a big way. It’s been a minute since we’ve seen this trend and it’s back with a new updated sexy twist. This has to be my favorite shoe silhouette of the moment. It’s fresh, it’s ultra feminine and it’s very now. The good ones are like a shoe tease: on one side, you’re rocking a full shoe, but at another angle, you’re bearing a lot o’ foot. This silhouette and also the illusion pumps are my favorite trends. I’ve really only seen it done well, by the high-end designers. Hopefully, in the next seasons we will see more of this in the more affordable brands because it’s a shoe that will flatter the masses.

Fall is upon us and October is the height of wedding season in the south. If you’re like me, you’re always looking for inspiration for what to wear to a wedding. I’ve picked out my favorites and thought I’d share them with you, my favorite readers.
Here are some tips about how to channel your best look for this fall’s wedding season. By the way, some of this dresses can also work for holiday parties and a host of other events that you may have going on this season.
Go Midi. It’s cold out and instead of shivering the entire night, you could go for a long sleeve dress with a longer hemline. It’s feminine, flirty and in a silky fabric, it’s perfectly elegant for a fall wedding. The green number featured here is cut from figure-skimming silk charmeuse and will easily transition from day to night.
Love the midi look, but feel a little covered up? Try an open-back midi. Look for a formfitting silhouette, slightly draped bodice, and ruched seams to lend a flattering hand to your figure.
Long pleated dresses are haute this fall, look for them in the season’s favorite colors like evergreen, oxblood, admiral blue and goldenrod.
Get your lace on. A metallic lace party dress personifies sexy, feminine and vintage-inspired style. Look for illusion necklines and fitted bodices to perfectly balances a voluminous skirt. This is a classic romantic look, but with an up-to-date twist.
It’s minimal, it’s classic, it’s flattering, it’s practical — a strapless black dress. Enough said.
Swirl, girl. A swingy circle skirt is great for showing off those gams and dancing the night away.
Peplum is not going anywhere. The new twist is seeing it in contrasting colors from the rest of the dress, belting, and pairing it with other details like splits, exaggerated sleeves and in vintage-inspired textures.
Another trend this fall is seeing a dress that mix leather and feminine colors or fabric. Be on the hunt for dresses with leather details in the belts, hems, bodice and panels from neck to hem. They make leather, a fabric typically associated with rock in roll, look a little demure, classic and chic.
Origami-inspired looks are all in this season. Conceal your collarbone and leave your shoulders bare to create an on trend and bold silhouette.
Embrace brocade. It’s back with a new twist. Look for sharp pleats to lend structure to classic shift dresses and geometric cutouts to make the look very — now.
Don’t be afraid to rock a pattern. An on trend lace with curving patterns will bring a unique allure to a midi dress.
Do you have your go-to dresses for all of fall’s festivities? If not, the most important things to remember is to get what makes you feel good. Shop ahead of time so that you don’t have to choose something last minute. There’s nothing worse then going shopping under the gun right? Take your time so this is not another dress that you wear just once and throw in the back of the closet.

One of my favorite things to do is help people work their wardrobes. Stores and magazines really only show a couple of ways to rock the pieces they sell, but in real life, most women rock their wardrobe staples over and over again. I’ve been collecting some pictures on Pinterest on my How To Wear Dresses and Skirts pinboard. Are you sleeping on it? Check it out when you get a chance at http://pinterest.com/maneandchic/how-to-wear-dresses-and-skirts, but I’m going to show you my favorite looks from the pinboard and hopefully it inspires something you’d never thought of rocking. So let’s get right to it.
How To Wear Skirts
Here are just a few bits of inspiration or tips on how to rock your favorite skirts.
1. Go monochromatic. Pair your skirt with a long sleeve tee in the same color family as your skirt, a scarf and your go-to bag.
2. Rock it with a wrap blouse, a bunch of bracelets and your favorite clutch.
3. Got a tulle or lace skirt? How about pairing it with a military inspired jacket or blazer in army green, camouflage or navy blue with a pair of ballet flats.
4. Pair your polka dots prints with leopard prints. What? Yes, Darling. Don’t be afraid to be daring with prints.
5. Long sleeve tops in eye-catching prints, a scarf and belt are the perfect combo for your ultra feminine midi skirts.
6. Tuck in a sleeveless blouse and belt it to make your skirt and shirt combo look like a great dress.
7. Simply add a long sleeve tee or sweater to a printed skirt and tuck it in for a sleek and cohesive look.
8. You’d be amazed at what a crisp white button down and a great pair of shoes will do for a classic skirt silhouette.
9. Go sheer. Pair your favorite shirt with a sheer top and tuck the shirt in to have a chic new dress-like moment.
10. Tennessee tuck it. Got an over-sized shirt? Tuck the front in and let the back flow freely. Add a few bangles, a cute bag, pumps and you’re good to go.
11. Color block with cardigan plus button down plus tie. It’s very hot librarian… no? Why not?
12. Grab your favorite short sleeve tee, tuck it and add a statement necklace.
13. Your favorite graphic tee, chunky necklace and a cute clutch can make a ultra feminine skirt look urban chic.
14. Break out that bodysuit and belt it because it is the perfect pairing with your favorite skirts.
There’s really so many things you can do with skirts. Pull out your favorite skirts and just get in front of the mirror and start experimenting with layering, color blocking, tucking, mixing prints and playing with accessories. Have you ever had a moment when you tried something on in your wardrobe and said ‘Where have you been all of my life?’ I have! The best way is just to try things out. I did an interview with Tory Burch a few years ago during my time at a magazine and I asked her what her secret was to mixing patterns and she simply said, ‘experiment’. Do you rock your skirts in unexpected ways? Please share in the comments.
Solange Knowles Style
Have you seen Solange on Madewell’s website? She’s the new spokesperson for the brand. When the Carol’s Daughter door closed, this opened. Good for her. It appears as though she’s finally found her niche. She says she doesn’t want to be the Vice President of natural hair (or whatever she said), but we haven’t seen her with straight hair in a minute. Before she went natural, she looked like every other girl… there was really nothing unique about her look or her style. Chopping off all of her hair, really made her stand out and when she started rocking the curly bush, well things really took off for her. We really hadn’t seen that in mainstream America since Kelis and Tracee Ellis Ross. You’ll also notice that her style evolved when the straight hair went. Solange and Rihanna are the like “it girls” of hair right now. Well, we can’t wait to see what she does next.
The Unique Appeal of Leopard High Heels
For those of you that have been looking for some of the most on trend and appealing print on high heels currently available, you should definitely look into the unique appeal of Leopard high heels. Leopard print has always been a favorite among women for ages. However, to have this print created with unique designs for high heel pumps now gives us the option of turning dull outfits into something exciting and on trend. In the information that follows, you’re going to discover some of the items you can wear with leopard heels and how to wear Leopard print shoes to maximize your overall look.
What to Wear With Leopard Heels In Terms Of Something Unique, Appealing, and On Trend
When trying to make a decision about what prints to pair with leopard heels, you should not restrict yourself to simply wearing other leopard style prints. First, no one really does the matchy matchy thing. Your outfit can entertain a number of different textures and patterns. My best advice, try it on and see if you like it. Lace makes a great companion to leopard high heels as well as other classic prints like stripes, some plaids and herringbone. Leather plus leopard high heels may sound like overkill, but what’s better than a black leather pencil skirt and subtle leopard print stilettos? Dresses, skirts and any sort of cropped pant will really allow your shoes to be the stars.
Discovering What to Wear With Leopard Print Heels That Will Turn Heads
Leopard print is probably the easiest color patterns to match with any type of outfit you own. You can go for a monochromatic look by doing an all black, all white or all purple outfit and top it off with some leopard print heels. You can do something more daring by paring your heels with plaids or other patterns. The options are limitless.
Learning How to Wear Leopard Print Shoes
Do you have a favorite silhouette of shoe? I do. I love ultra feminine stilettos; however, they aren’t practical for my lifestyle. My safe shoes, as I like to call them, are a wedge sandal with a moderate heel and wedge ankle boots. So, if I’m shopping for shoes, those are the typical shoes types I look for. There are a number of different leopard print heels available in different silhouettes such as pumps, boots, sandals, d’Orsay, platforms, ankle boots and more. With so many options, you should definitely be able to find something that works with your signature style and practicality standards. This is extremely important because if you really like your leopard heels and you are comfortable in them, you can definitely get more wear out of them; hence, more bang for your buck. Many of us buy things because they are cute with no thought of how it can be used to maximize our wardrobe. I’ve heard that most people only wear 20% of their wardrobe. That’s crazy given how much we spend on clothes. Don’t you think?
You should now have a better understanding about leopard high heels. With this information, you should be able to figure out what you would like to wear with leopard heels, how to make them fit into your own signature style and how to look on trend when you’re rocking them.

We love them, we all have them — jeans. Dress them up or dress them down, we can’t live without them. I wanted to share some of my favorite looks from my ‘What To Wear With Jean’ pinboard on Pinterest. You can see more at http://pinterest.com/maneandchic/what-to-wear-with-jeans/.
What To Wear With Jeans
Wear them monochromatically, like pair a white shirt with white jeans, blue shirts with blue jeans, black tops with black jeans. Break the look, but keep it cohesive with a coordinating belt.
Dress it down but keep it cute with a chic pair of sneakers, a button down shirt and classic cardigan.
Keep it trendy with the seasons hottest colors. Rock a sexy off-the-shoulder sweater with an infinity scarf. Top your look off with a pair of sunnies and animal print loafers, preferably leopard. Well, that’s my drug of choice.
Roll them up. If you’re a leggy girl with gams to spare, go on and cuff your jeans. This is also a great way to show off some killer shoes.
Add some glitz to your jean look by pairing them with a peplum top, collar necklace and a pair of fabulous platforms.
Get your J. Crew on by pairing a striped button down with a striped sweater and finish your look with a pair with a pair of ballet flats in the season’s hautest colors.
You’ll be feminine and polished when you pair an ultra feminine blouse with a pair of skinnies and your favorite ‘freakum pumps’.
Don you sexiest boots with an oversized button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, lots of chains, bracelets, rings, dope sunglasses and your favorite skinny jeans.
Rock your boyfriend jeans with simple t-shirt scarves, a plain white tee and an easy cotton cardi. Top this look off with your big weekend bag and a shoe in a fun print or bold color.
Glam up a pair of stonewashed jeans by pairing it with bold jewelry, glitzy tops with a relaxed blazer and ankle-strap sandals.
The best way to balance out the volume of wide-legged jeans is with a top that’s tucked in and a chic belt.
Wide-leg jeans make the perfect pairing with a vest and figure-flattering top.
The simplest formula is to rock your favorite fitted tee with any jean silhouette, a cute pair of shoes and some statement jewelry.
Here’s an easy formula: blazer + chambray shirt + skinny jeans = chic.
When it’s chilly out, grab a light trench to pair with your favorite jeans.
