Rock It or Knock It: Scarf Braid at Hermès Spring 2011

source: Style.com

This image from the Hermès show was nostalgic. I used to tie a scarf around my ponytail when I was younger to make my hair appear longer, or just to add something extra to my ponytail.

Here they wrapped the head and then braided the scarf and hair into a ponytail. This would work well for a lazy day at the beach or on vacay. It will help protect your hair from the sun if you don’t like wearing hats.

Another cool thing you should know: this is a great hair setting technique. If you do this to your hair while wet or freshly moisturized and rock it for a few hours, you’ll have some really cool waves when you take it down. Some women even do this with several strips of satin, it’s called the “Satin Scarf Braidout“. It isn’t one of my go to styles, but I have tried it a few times in the past couple of years. It could help aid in reducing shrinkage. If you’re rocking braidouts and you want to experiment, you should try this.

So what do you think?

Rock It Knock It: Earring Hairpin

This earring hairpin by Cornelia Webb is unique, to say the least. I used to rock a clip in nose ring/earring that was inspired by Janet Jackson’s Runaway video, but this is not that. It’s interesting, but would you rock it? Why or why not? Please share in the comments or by participating in the poll.
