I wrote this post back in February of 2008 when I found out Girlfriends was cancelled.

I am really going to miss seeing Tracee’s hair every week on Girlfriends. There’s always syndication, but it’s not the same. If you don’t know by now “Girlfriends” has been canceled. To be quite honest, I wasn’t really feeling it after Toni left.

How I Feel Now
I was excited to hear that Ms. Ross was co-producing a new BET sitcom entitiled “Reed Between the Lines”. It was actually supposed to start filming in August 2010, but I haven’t heard any news. Have you?

Super sexy Hayley Marie Norman (formerly a “Deal or no Deal” girl) had this to say about rocking her trademark hairstyle…the afro… in her May of 2007 interview with BrianX Magazine.

I’ve worn my hair natural my entire life. There were several times in school I was ridiculed for it, and up until a couple years ago, I soo badly wanted to straighten my hair. But, thank God, my mom wouldn’t let me touch it! It has only been the past couple years that I’ve truly embraced my hair. Believe it or not, I’ve had several work related instances where people have asked me to straighten my hair because they believe it is sexier, or more acceptable. I flat out refuse to work with people who have such small minds. A huge men’s magazine wanted to feature me, only if I wore my hair straight, and I told them absolutely not. I want to let other people who are afraid of wearing their hair natural, know that not only should they, but that it is damn hot! And, I hope I am changing the stereotype, one straight hair at a time!

Recently, you may have seen Hayley as the character Sienna in the 2010 movie Our Family Wedding.

In celebration of Mane & Chic’s three years of blogging, I am re-posting my favorite post. Here’s one I did on Mya. This was before everyone starting shaving the sides of their heads and at the time, Mya was the only person I saw doing this all-to-one-side curly style. It is one style in heavy rotation in my hairstyle repertoire. I use hair pins to keep the hair in place, but you can you combs or whatever you have on hand to achieve “The Mya”. Some of you may be able to just pull the length of your shoulder, but I prefer to use pins so that I have more control and hold.

I just finished watching Kelis’ new video, Acapella. It was super creative from the concept, the hair, the makeup and I especially love the end. Very cute! I’ve read a lot of blogs that hate on her new hairstyle, but I love it. It’s different. Everybody will be on it 3 years from now. I notice that about Kelis. She’s one of those earlier adapters and what she did 5 years ago is what people are just beginning to do now (mmm…Rihanna). Her styling may never be mainstream, but it’s always edgy and highly entertaining. Love her. Watch the video for yourself below.

I spotted this photo of Claudette Ortiz on The YBF. If you don’t remember or are too young to know, she was in this group called City High. I’m not concerned to much with the gossip, I like her hair in this photo. If you want to read more about what’s up with her you can read the original post on The YBF. According to ConcreteLoop, Solange hosted a party over the weekend to benefit Yéle Haiti. She changed up the color and it looks like she’s letting it grow out a bit. We love it!

Ms. Ross has been hitting up a lot of Pre-Oscar events this weekend. Here are some of her looks.  I guess she’s in her Black Period.  Hello TV executives, can we get her another show ASAP?  How dope would he be if Tracee and SJP did a show together?  I had a dream about it.  Ummm… Tyler Perry… hook a sister up with some work or something.  I hear she just wrapped a movie called Labor Pains starring Lindsay Lohan.  No comment on that.  I think she would do well on The Office, Dancing with the Stars, and I would just die if she was on Desperate Housewives but I think I’d like to see her do more of an improv sitcom-ish show.  What are your thoughts, if you could add Tracee to any show currently on air… what would it be?
