Lisa Arriaza

Meet Lisa Arriaza who has been natural her whole life. She has a surprisingly simple hair care regimen.

Lisa’s hair care regimen…
I wash my hair once a week. I deep condition as often as needed (3x’s a week). I trim my hair once every 3 months. I only use heat once a year maybe less and I never highlight or color. No special techniques, just wash, detangle and go. I don’t really like to put my hair through too much stress, unless it’s for a special occasion. (LOL) I like to wear my hair as natural as possible, my favorite hair style is out and wild.

Favorite products…
Sunsilk Sunsilk Sunsilk! Yes, Sunsilk has done wonders for my curly hair. It’s the only product that really works for me, I love it.

"BubblingBrownShuga"

Meet “BubblingBrownShuga” in her own words…

On going natural…
I just saw no use in relaxing anymore. My hair wouldn’t maintain the styles I tried to have when relaxed and my hair would end up in a bun. I started searcing online and looking in various websites and online albums from other ladies who were going natural or who were already natural and I took the plunge!

Hair care regimen…
I wash my hair twice a week, once a week with shampoo: Jessicurl Cleansing Creme. I condition my hair with Aubrey Organics conditioner. I only comb my hair when wet and full of conditioner. To clarify, I mix water and apple cider vinegar and do this whenever I feel my hair needs it. After washing, I grease my scalp with Nature’s Blessing pomade weekly. I then commence to styling and I use Karen’s Body Beautiful Hair Milk. I get my hair straightened monthly and to help my hair revert quicker, I use Aubrey Organics GPB conditioner.

Favorite Products…
Jessicurl Cleansing Creme, Aubrey’s Organics conditioner and Karen’s Body Beautiful Hair Milk

Hair care secrets…
Low maintenance styles, only combing hair when it is wet and full of conditoner and using primarily natural products

The Mya

In celebration of Mane & Chic’s three years of blogging, I am re-posting my favorite post. Here’s one I did on Mya. This was before everyone starting shaving the sides of their heads and at the time, Mya was the only person I saw doing this all-to-one-side curly style. It is one style in heavy rotation in my hairstyle repertoire. I use hair pins to keep the hair in place, but you can you combs or whatever you have on hand to achieve “The Mya”. Some of you may be able to just pull the length of your shoulder, but I prefer to use pins so that I have more control and hold.
