Jojoba Oil – Benefits of Jojoba Oil for Hair Loss

Desert Essence Jojoba Oil for Hair, Skin & Scalp 4 fl oz (120 ml)Author: Tim Faber

Jojoba Oil is fast emerging as a mystical elixir of life for hair and the fight against hair loss. Though it is not the “be all and end all” as far as the perfect solution for hair problems is concerned, it is an excellent hair treatment for dry hair and a natural hair conditioner acting similar to and having the properties of sebaceous oil (sebum).

A Hair Conditioner and Moisturizer
Sebaceous glands of the scalp produce a natural hair and skin oil called ‘sebum’, whose structure resembles the inherent structure of Jojoba Oil. Sebum is needed to moisturize the scalp and thus maintain beautiful, healthy hair and help reduce hair loss. Jojoba oil has the same qualities and hence, the regular use of Jojoba oil, makes your hair more resistant to detrimental factors such as tangles, dryness or even split ends.

The Jojoba Beauty Product
Jojoba oil can be applied to hair in its purest form, or else can be bought as a mixture of various components, with Jojoba as its major component. It would be a good idea to go for the mixture as it would also include extracts such as Lavender, Rosemary Oil, Comfrey and a wonderful fragrance.
Not only would your hair get the benefit of Jojoba Oil but also benefit from the effects of these extracts that would heal the hair and offer more nourishment. For added beauty and help with female hair loss, Jojoba Oil provides the benefits of moisturization with cleansing, and improved scalp capillary circulation – improving follicle growth.

For Dry and Coarse Hair
Jojoba oil is not only a great way to treat dry hair, but it also can be used repeatedly meaning it won’t have any side effects on your hair. This is because there is no artificial chemical content in this oil.
More importantly, it can be applied easily and is also easy to shampoo out. No longer do you have to shampoo your head vigorously to remove those spots of oil that stick to your hair.
In the end if you are going for a hot oil treatment, rest assured all of them are quite messy, but the mess has a very positive effect on your hair and hence is worth it.

Extra Protection and Healing
Jojoba oil offers extra protection to your hair. Coupled with the conditioning effects that will make your hair soft and silky, it is a great choice for scalp and hair loss products.
It is scientifically proven that Jojoba oil does have healing properties and effects hair in a wholly positive manner, much more than other oils. Moreover, the oil can be used on all types of hair.
The market is replete with various compositions that include Jojoba Oil in its various concentrations. Your choice of the concentration; whether, heavy, medium, or light will be dependent on the type of hair and your overall dry hair moisturizer and hair loss care needs.

Herb O’ The Day: Marshmallow

What just popped in your head when you saw the title of this post?  A big heavenly fluff of sugar? Well, sorry, that’s not what this post is about, but just for your information, the original or more traditional recipe for marshmallows used an extract from the mucilaginous root of the marshmallow plant also know as Althaea Officinalis. Today they are most likely made with gelatin as a substitute for marshmallow.

Althaea officinalis also known as marshmallow is a super conditioning, mucilaginous herb. That means it will have crazy ‘slip’. What’s slip? Slip is the degree to which a conditioner has the ability to detangle with ease or the degree of ease a comb can slip through your hair. This is very important for women with curly or highly textured hair. The less we have to detangle, the less hair we loose and the more hair we retain.

Let me introduce you to a few products that contain Marshmallow.

Marshmallow is also good for dry, itchy scalp.

You can purchase the herb and make your own hair rinse using a mesh tea ball or just buy the powder. It is sold on Anita Grant and what’s awesome about the site it that it gives a recipe on how to make a rinse with marshmallow. The site also goes into detail about the herb, click here to view.

The list of regularly used herbs includes Aloe, Arnica, Birch, Burdock, Catmint, Chamomile, Horsetail, Licorice, Marigold, Nettles, Parsley, Rosemary, Sage, Southernwood, Stinging nettle, Psoralea seeds, Mulberries and Oyster. Soy is also equally important in preventing the hair loss.

Massage the scalp with warm almond or olive oil. Take half cup of clean water and two egg yolks, beat egg yolks in a cup of water. Use it as a massage on the scalp and hair for 5-10 minutes. Leave it for a few minutes and rinse hair with Luke warm water. After this again rinse with water and apple cider vinegar. Massage the scalp at night and shampoo the hair next morning. Essential fatty acids found in Evening Primrose oil and Flax Seed oil can restore hair growth.
